Sandra Monfort

Tradition and avant-garde. Ancestrality and modernity. Organic and digital touch. Endemic Cairo and foreign. The career of Sandra Monfort (Pedreguer, 1992), member of the famous trio Marala, has been forged on this series of dualities. Hers is a versatile profile, but also that of an artist with a lot of care. A woman who knows how to combine technique with intuition. Trained at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) and specializing in classical guitar, the performer creates songs that are not at all orthodox, reverent or corseted. Quite the opposite. Thus, she shares orbit with all these musicians who are updating the sound legacy of their territories from an absolutely current, valid and striking perspective. The award-winning albums Niño Réptil Ángel (Hidden Track, 2021) and La Mona (Hidden Track, 2023) are a good example of her experimental spirit.
Sandra Monfort presents La Mona de Nit, which is the extension of her latest work: La Mona. It is the artist's most canine expression, when the sun is already setting and the females come out "braceo" towards the club. It is the contained force turned into gunpowder, it is the podium of the cats blowing smoke. It is the bakalao, the eighties, the ecstasy of the love of life in the air. The crown that La Mona lacks to name her Queen of the Night.
