The Fira Valenciana de la Música Trovam Unveils Its Final Program for the 12th Edition!
Today, the Fira Valenciana de la Música Trovam presented the final program for its 12th edition during a press conference. Initially scheduled for November 14–16, the event was postponed due to the impact of the DANA (floods) that affected significant areas of the Valencia province starting October 29. In response, the Fira's organizers have worked to adjust the musical offerings and professional activities to the new circumstances, with a significant budget reduction agreed upon with the Institut Valencià de Cultura. The reallocated funds will go toward aiding those affected and reconstructing the flooded areas. The Fira will now take place on December 4–6, 2024, in Castelló de la Plana.
During the press conference at Castelló City Hall, Armand Llàcer, director of Fira Trovam, highlighted the resilience and determination of the music sector:
"Despite what happened just 10 days before the initial date, we decided to move forward and reschedule the event. We have worked alongside the authorities to adapt the program to this situation. Naturally, this edition will have a strong solidarity focus," Llàcer explained.
Meanwhile, María España, the Councilor for Culture, stated:
"The time has come for music to play again. We will do so in honor of all the municipalities affected by the DANA and the people we have lost. Let me make it clear: this is not a ‘mini’ edition of Trovam. This will be the best and, undoubtedly, the most emotional edition in its history. We owe it to the many musicians who have lost rehearsal spaces, music societies, municipal bands, and countless other cultural entities."
Solidarity Celebration of Valencian Music
One notable addition to the program is the Solidarity Celebration of Valencian Music, a free event featuring 16 Valencian musical acts aimed at encouraging public involvement in the recovery of devastated areas. A donation platform will be available to support the reconstruction of infrastructure and assist affected music businesses, with funds channeled through the Fundación Horta Sud. This foundation, established in 1972, works to strengthen the associative movement in the region and currently manages projects to mitigate the effects of the disaster.
The Solidarity Celebration, supported by the Generalitat Valenciana and À Punt Mèdia, will take place at the esplanade in front of the main entrance to the Castelló Auditorium from December 4 to 6. Audiences can enjoy live performances by acts such as Nebulossa (Spain's Eurovision representatives with their empowerment anthem "Zorra"), Sandra Monfort (who modernizes traditional Valencian sounds), Tacho (fusing Valencian folk with Latin rhythms), Colomet (blending reggaeton and electronic music with emotional, dreamlike lyrics), and Johnny B. Zero (an alternative rock band with a solid career). The lineup also includes Abril, Águeda Segrelles, Doña Manteca, La Trocamba, Mala Gestión, Pantaje, Platz, Quinto, and Reina Mora. On Friday morning, December 6, family-friendly shows will feature Beatles for Kids and Trobadorets.
Main Stages and Lineup
The Fira will maintain two primary stages at the Castelló Auditorium:
Sala Simfònica: Featuring live performances by Niño de Elche and Santero y Los Muchachos on Thursday, December 5.
Vibra Mahou Stage (Sala de Cambra): Hosting pop (Anna Millo, Novembre Elèctric), rock (Bernal, Hey Zuri), electronic (Donallop, Xenia), and jazz (Pepe Zaragoza) acts, among others.
Despite efforts to retain the original lineup, over 20 performances have been canceled due to the challenges posed by the DANA, including acts like Cactus, Miquel Gil, and Viva Belgrado.
Professional Programming
The 12th edition’s professional programming will address the DANA’s impact on the music sector through two panel discussions:
Opening Panel: Featuring Juan Melgar (Ministry of Culture), Soco Collado (Es Música), and Rafa Jordán (MusicaProCV).
Regeneration in Live Music: Exploring the sector's resilience and recovery strategies.
The Les Converses del Trovam sessions will include discussions with artists such as Maika Makovski and Nebulossa, offering their insights on creativity and the music industry.
Workshops
Four practical workshops will be offered:
Accessibility in Music Venues (Fundación Music For All).
Digital Rights Management (Unison Rights).
Tax Deductions for Live Events (Sympathy for the Lawyer).
Contracts and Legal Jargon (Domingo Monforte Abogados).
Networking
The event will also host speed meetings to connect industry professionals, and for the first time, the Fira will feature an official app for networking, scheduling, and accessing event information.
