The fourteenth edition of the Trovam, the Valencian Music Fair, will be held from Thursday 12 to Saturday 14 November in Castelló. This year, more than 40 artists will participate in an event that confirms the city as the great showcase of music. Thus, the Auditorium and Conference Centre, with four stages, will once again be the epicentre of the programme, which will also extend to the Principal Theatre, the La Bohemia hall and the Terra Pub. Most of the concerts will be free.
The Trovam poster includes a good part of the novelties of the local music scene. For example, attendees will enjoy the world premiere of the next show of Pep Gimeno “Botifarra”. In addition, the Fira will host the most recent proposals by Sandra Monfort, who heads ‘Terra de Guapes’, dedicated to the Valencian musical tradition; Perfecto Miserable, a local indie-rock band that has just released the album Acabará fatal; Romàntic Dimoni, the new project by Carles Caselles (Smoking Souls); and Quinto, which will unfold the pop-electronic music from the album DCDV.
The event will also showcase some of the most outstanding Spanish bands of the moment. Among them are Depresión Sonora, which x-rays the state of anguish of generation Z with the rhythm of post-punk; Repion, an alternative rock duo that is filling venues all over the country thanks to their latest work, 201; Rebrote, a project led by Iñaki "Uoho" Antón where former members of Platero y Tú and Extremoduro reunite; Cervatana, with a fusion of dark techno, experimental rock and dystopian narrative; La Perra Blanco from Cádiz, one of the best guitarists of today; and Toundra, a progressive instrumental rock group that returns to the stage with the album Siete. Tickets for these six concerts are already on sale through the official Trovam website.
Up to 45 artists from all musical genres
The Fira will also be a good showcase of the stylistic diversity of the Valencian scene. The lineup includes the pop-rock-soul of AnimalPersona, the new reincarnation of Carles Chiner (Gener), and the electronic pop of Brilla Carmen. The Trovam’s stages will also hold shows from Bernal, a post-rock quartet that has definitively consolidated itself with the album Vida y milagros; the singer and guitarist Nadia Sheikh; the Castellón band Palo Domado; and the classic rock quartet Desert Vipers.
On the other hand, the most festive proposals will be Arre-A.K. with the album Kinkis de Bankal; La Xica, who will bring to Castellón the electronic songs from her debut album, Alabatre; and Momo, a band headed by Marcos de la Torre, former vocalist of Mafalda. The sonic experimentation will be carried out by Saurí, who uses artificial intelligence tools; and the joint project of Abraxas and Hugo Mas from Alcoy focused on the Oil Revolution of 1873.
Noelia Llorens “Titana”, a benchmark of Valencian roots music, will present Llum, where she recovers classics from the folk repertoire with a feminist look. Singer-songwriters Feliu Ventura, Maria Faubel, Nacho Casado and Tomàs de los Santos will also exhibit new compositions. The voice of jazz singer Sara Dowling will also resonate, while Sanspok will play live music at the screening of the animated film Alice in Wonderland released in 1951. Likewise, it is worth mentioning the presence of Ramonets, a group that will perform a concert for primary school students in the province and another for family audiences.
A musical tour through the country
For years now, the Trovam has been enriched with proposals from other parts of the country. Thus, this year there will be two artists of urban rhythms (trap, rap, electronica) from the Basque Country and Navarra: Hofe and Kiliki, respectively. Rüdiger will also travel from the latter autonomous community. He has fused folk, rock, electronic music and introspective writing in his next album, Love is a Muscle. From Catalonia will travel Brighton 64, a historic mod formation that says goodbye to the stage; Les Testarudes, a Jamaican female music band that has released the album Ai, Mare!; OKDW, standard-bearer of the sounds of R&B, soul and pop; cabaret artist Paco Pecado; and rapper Paula Peso.
The Valladolid native Dulzaro will show the mixture of Castilian folklore and electronics from the album Ícaro. Madrid will bring three other bands: the pop-rock of Anaut, the indie-rock of Amor Líquido and the radical electronica of VVV [Trippin'you]. In addition, the Balearic band Negre will implement their pop formula with synthesizers. Finally, it is worth mentioning the presence of the Chilean composer, singer and drummer Cancamusa, who will land in Castelló to offer the pop of her latest album, Dopamina.
