Les Testarudes

Group of nine women that was born from the need to create their own space within traditionally male-dominated styles such as ska, rocksteady and reggae. In this way, Les Testarudes want to make visible the image of women on stage, as well as offer a space for learning and knowledge about women performers and composers in Jamaican musical culture. The group gave their first gig in May 2023 and since then their concert schedule has not stopped growing. A good example is the show “Safareig, ballaruques i ska” that they offered last May at the Paral·lel 62 (Barcelona) in order to present their new album, Ai, mare!. That work is the continuation of La Prèvia, an EP that they released in January 2025. Both recordings have been published by Buenritmo Records.
