Niño de Elche

A key figure in contemporary flamenco, Niño de Elche has embraced everything that the genre, from its most fundamental to its truly essential aspects, has gifted us. For this reason, and because he has not shied away from the challenge of recognizing the "ground zeroes" left behind by art and its labels, he proclaims himself an ex-flamenco artist—a way of expressing his relentless quest, now reaching its defining moment.
His new album, Cante a lo gitano, is the final chapter in a trilogy that includes Memorial de cante en mis bodas de plata con el flamenco (2021) and Flamenco. Mausoleo de celebración, amor y muerte (2022). This record revisits the repertoire of the legendary Manuel Torre (1880–1933), known in his youth as Niño de Jerez. Through different recordings, Torre’s austere yet unique artistic personality was immortalized.
Cante a lo gitano presents fourteen rich tracks that take us back to ancestral principles, which, in turn, guide us toward the future.
